Ramen spots, just like tacos, are everywhere in Los Angeles and finding the right one can be a bit daunting. Kosuke stands apart from it’s sea of competitors because they are not only delicious, but they have amazing prices. All of the broths are sublime, with many layers of flavors that come together in savory harmony. There are many choices but the popcorn chicken and Tonkotsu ramens are favorites on the menu. - Cash Only
Unfortunately, this is cash only establishment and there is no ATM onsite. The nearest ATM is Chase bank which is 3 blocks east of the restaurant.
I love spicy food but as a rule of thumb, I usually get medium spice whenever I order somewhere new to be on the safe side. They make the Ramen very spicy so medium spice is probably too hot unless you are a chili enthusiast. I suggest ordering mild or no spice if you are concerned with setting your mouth on fire.
- Show up early
There are no reservations and there is very limited seating capacity. Very large parties are difficult to manage. There is a sign up sheet inside at the podium to get on the waiting list. I usually never have an issue if I show up within the first 10 minutes of opening. There is always a line out the door and for good reason, it is well worth the wait.
- To Go
Luckily, they provide takeout for anyone not wanting to wait for a table. The Ramen is carefully packaged for easy transport without the worry for a mess. Food is never as good when you don’t eat it fresh but if you are not traveling far, the drop in quality is negligible.
I first tried Kosuke because I always saw a large line outside and was curious what all the fuss was about.
